Super Performer is the flagship framework I use to track, guide, and accelerate long-term athlete development.

It’s the result of years of coaching experience, 30,000+ words of design thinking, and over 120,000 words of support materials.

It’s more than a spreadsheet. It’s a mindset, a map, and a method. This handout gives you a two-page intro to how it works.

Across 10 development stages and 25 capabilities, I track where athletes are and how close they are to owning a skill in performance conditions.

Super Performer is the clearest expression of everything I’ve learned across 30+ years of freestyle coaching.

It’s not some fixed system carved in stone—it’s alive, evolving, and built from the coaching trenches.

For the first time, I’ve been able to lay out—in full detail—the characteristics, stages, and strategies that define what it means to become the ultimate performer.

Is anyone there yet? No. And that’s exactly how it should be. Together, we’re still reaching forward—finding new ways to move, connect, and shape water like never before.

This framework isn’t just for top-level athletes. Anyone can open it, explore it, and start moving themselves.

Some athletes will copy it into a shared Google Sheet and personalise it. Others might look at it and think: “What the heck is this?”—and that’s OK too.

The point is: it gives us something to work from. A way to talk about the journey, track growth, and unlock what’s possible.
